Progress....

I am making some progress on my $5.00 quilt.

I have ironed all 400+ squares.

 Sew them into 2 patches.

I am now working on 4 patches.

None of them are the same size, so instead of trimming 400+ squares I will deal with that when the blocks are much bigger. They then will be trimmed and put together for the top. This is such a fun project as there are "no rules". You see it will be a picnic quilt and those to me are "no-rule" quilts!
Remember...

Have a super day!!

Back to School Night.....

It is not just me is it?
I love Back to School night!!
You get to meet all the teachers that will be a major influence on your child's life.
You get to hear what they will be learning.
You get to put a face to the teacher they are talking  or complaining about!!
You get to meet the parents of your children's friends.
You get to follow their schedule and wonder how they make it to the next class without being late!
BUT....
Best of all you get to remember what school was like and thank the Heavens above that you are done!!!

Happy Weekend!!

A New PC!!!

Yes I have a new PC!!
So, this weekend there was
no sewing
no blogging
no  cooking ( Oh, wait, I never do that anyway)!

But there was computer time!!
It set up like a breeze, well that is until the internet part arrived. Two hours on the phone with my brother in Texas and she was purring like a kitten ( Thanks Joe xox)!!!!
I went all out with this baby! I bought a 24 inch monitor!  Talk about large, this is how I felt!

It was just too large for me! So back it went and I am now happily using an 18.5 inch monitor!!
This is the first monitor in many years where I can use it as intended. I do not have to change the screen resolution. That means I can see whole pages without having to scroll right to left!
For me, this is a super biggie!!
Did you know that my blog has blue polka dots on the sides?
I never saw that!!!

Ready to start!!

I think I have everything I need to start working on my Civil War Blocks. I plan on doing the piecing by hand.

So I have set up a little sewing station.

Yes, right smack dab in front of the TV!!

I’m no fool (contrary to the rumors).

Here is my tray setup….

My iron, PINK!! And it works!

Soft batting as an ironing board.

Thread, needles, pins…

And yes two items I would be lost without.

These scissors and thimble were my great-grandmothers.

I would be lost without these precious items.

The thimble has medical tape on it for a sure grip and it has been “smashed” into an oval to fit my finger.

So, I think I am all set!! Now what to watch?
Ahhhh, yes
Project Runway!!!!

I hope to be able to show you a few completed  blocks tomorrow.

Slow and easy......

It is a little quiet in the sewing room. I am just about done with all the bees I am in; just one more month. Looked at some UFO’s and decided to keep them just that, UFO’s!!

I did work on a bee block with a color I have never used before...

Brown

This member sent each participant a different color for their block. This will be an amazing quilt for her when she is done.

I have been working on my Sarah Jane stitchery. This is such a fun pattern.

Chloe and I were having fun today, she kept on peeking as I was trying to take some pictures. She is such a sweet little one.

She thinks I am doing a "fine" she did not say "great" but a "fine" job!

Oh I love her so!!!!

I am also working on a Christmas gift, but I cannot show you just yet!!

So, as you can see not too much creating!

It is a sad day in Mudville.....

My baby, yes my baby starts school today........

I know she will be a Sophomore in high school but college is so close.

I may need some fabric therapy,

NO WAIT...

I think I will toss in a whole (yes, I said whole) box of dark chocolate creams.

OH NO..........

No body no!!! Not now….

Please….

Yes sadly it is true my body is telling me something and I have closed my ears for some time now.

BUT

The constant yelling is really starting to bother me!

So, YOU WIN!!

Yes I am getting older and some days I am so tired even though I had a great night’s sleep.

It is telling me the awful truth!!

I need to exercise!!

What do you mean I cannot work out in my nightie?
I do not like to wear shoes!
This is getting worse by the minute!!

REALLY????

So, I started, very slowly mind you. Now woman are suppose to glisten not sweat! There was no glisten on this lady.

This is yucky…

I do not like it….

I do not want to…

It is a pain….

Takes too much time…

BUT

I will do it.

On to day two!!!!

Mmmm, so pretty.......

Not  too long ago I ordered these beautiful jelly rolls from The Scrappy Appleyard.

Look at these yummy colors.

I thought one of them would be perfect  for a border for my quilt shop.

Oh how I love all these prints!!

The blues, I think I will save for an Americana quilt!

Have a happy day!

The word for today……

Kindness

Wikipedia defines Kindness as…

the act or the state of being kind —i.e. marked by goodness and charitable behavior, mild disposition, pleasantness, tenderness and concern for others. It is known as a virtue, and recognized as a value in many cultures and religions.

To me it is the number one rule in our home. Acts of kindness are like dominoes; once you start the acts just keep going! You will feel wonderful and that joy will be passed on, and on, and on.

Have a Happy Day!!

Ready... Set.... Fun!!!!!

Oh yes my Plan!!~! Work for one hour on many projects at a time. Little by little they we make progress.

It worked for one day!

Yes, One whole day.

Nope, I am going to do what I want and if those UFO’s stay UFO’s it was meant to be!!

I am starting this….

It is the pattern I ordered from Sarah Jane! The pattern was traceable or iron on; Hmm, iron on for me!!

I love to use a small hoop, 4 inches. I also use a stabilizer. The back of my work is so messy. The flannel that I use I love so much that I bought a bolt of 20 yards!! Since it will be years until I use it all I have it listed in my eBay store. This is the only flannel I will use for the back of my embroidery. You needle will glide right through and no stitch work will show on the front. I highly recommend this flannel.

Also added to the store the highly awaited black Finca Floss, black Kona .

Remember to visit Sew We Quilt at Stash Manicure for the Wantobe Campaign. It is amazing  and has been only 5 days!!!!

Happy Weekend!

To all my wonderful followers….

Now to answer a few questions from some of you. For my Zig Zag quilt I used Presencia Perle Finca     (which I happen to sell)
HERE

My $5 Quilt LOL!!

I went to a quilt store that was closing and every time someone made a purchase they would let you pick a 5 inch square to take home.

So when it was mine turn to check out I asked if I could buy them all; the cost $5 for over 500 squares and the white tray!!!

Soooo hence my $5 quilt.

Which I plan on working on today.
Happy Sewing!!
