A few things I did accomplish!

Thank you to everyone who tied to help me with my Juki problem. By using a combination of ideas I now “seam” to have the hang of it!! Go slow, cut thread, make sure needle is down, pull thread a little, and I sometimes I still use leaders and enders. Thank you so much!!

In-between my tantrum and Hot Fudge Sundae I did manage to make two blocks for two different Bees. The first is for Be There or Be Square Bee. We were sent all the fabrics precut and all we had to do was sew them together. I wanted to pretend I did not receive the fabrics as there were quite a few of my favorites! I tried my best but on closer inspection see I did not match a seam very well. I sure hope it will still work in her quilt.

I also made this block for the Sew Wonky Bee. All Kona solids; Oh how I love Kona!!! This was called a ladder block and was such fun! You were able to create as you made the block. The tutorial for this block can be found at toefeathers blog, right here.

Still working on my I Spy quilt, hope to be able to show you some more progress soon!

Seriously???

I mean seriously!!!
I love my sewing machine!!
It is a Juki.
It does one stitch….Straight!
All I need.
Really I love it sooo much!!
BUT
Seriously!!!!!!!!

It has an automatic thread cutter, I love this, but it cuts the thread so short I always have to rethread my needle!
You know my eyes, it takes me forever! I am so frustrated!
Most quilters thread their needle with a new color or new thread.
Not every other time I make a seam!
I even had a friend of mine who owns the same machine try it, Noooo she has no problem. The second she leaves, it comes out!

Any Juki owners out there who know how to lengthen the thread that is cut? Otherwise I am back to leaders and enders!

Whoa Bill, that was quite a tantrum!!!!!!!

I need a huge Hot Fudge Sundae!!!!

Do you have any idea?

I have finished hand quilting the houses but now it is time for the borders. I have no idea what color thread I should use? Should I match the colors of the fabrics or just pick one color? But what color?
These are tough decisions for me!
Thank you for any advice.

‘Tis the luck of the Irish…

That brought you to my blog today!
ButWhat did you say?
This post is about Christmas!!
Yes it sure is…
I received my Christmas Cottage quilt back from Millie. This is the first time I did not quilt a quilt by hand. I think Millie of Milie's Quilting did an amazing job. We decided to keep it simple and let the cottages shine through! Just look at her wonderful work.

Even the back is amazing!

Now all that is left is the binding. Hmmm, Elaine…When will you be home!! LOL!!
I just love it!!
What do you think?

Happy St. Paddy's Day to Everyone!
We all have a bit of the Irish in us!!

On to step two…….

String blocks in the morning and I spy blocks in the afternoon! I am now able to move on to step two and start to make rows of all my blocks.
This picture shows just some of the fun fabrics I have been working with; last count I have over 130 squares! That will make a wonderful size quilt.

I could not have done this without the help of so many you, so once again, Thank You, Thank You for all your help with my I Spy Quilt.

I just cannot stop!!

Really it is like a bag of chips, once you start you cannot stop.

What you ask?

String blocks!

I sent a pile of 20 to our bee Mama and will receive 20 different ones in return.

BUT.......

That is not enough for a quilt…….

I know, I know I told you I was going to make blocks with my new dot fabrics; however, I had these piles of scraps calling for me to make more string blocks.

What’s a girl to do?

So, sorry that is what I am doing this weekend. And I better get to work!

Happy Sewing Everyone!

String Blocks…

I love to make string blocks! They are such fun, work up quickly and give a fun modern scrappy look. I am involved in a one time swap for string blocks. Make as many as you like, send them in and receive the same amount back all mixed up!
I decided to make twenty.
It is fun and fast! I put all my scraps in a box, reach down grab one and try very hard not to be matchie, matchie! I work on paper although I know many work on muslin. I have never done it without paper. I hand quilt so I thought it would be easier to quilt with just one layer of fabric.
Here are my first four (paper still on) blocks.

Off to make more!
