Progress

I have made some progress on my Christmas quilt.  It is laid out and ready to be sewn into sections.

Happy Sewing!

Whew!

I do not know about you but this has been one busy weekend   From "starting" my Christmas shopping, shopping for my daughter's birthday in December, to decorating the inside of the house, to getting the Christmas tree, to hubby putting our lights out, Whew, and that was only Saturday. (How about that for a run on sentence!) Sunday meant, cleaning and doing laundry, and more shopping!

BUT...
That did not stop me from getting in a little sewing time.  I  was able to make  a little progress  on my new Christmas Project.

Have a  wonderful day/night.

I am cutting!

That's right!
My new outlook!
Love it, buy it,
CUT IT!!
I bought this in September but no more looking and petting!
I am doing another hand pieced quilt.
Sooo, Here I go!

Purchased from

This is what I have done up to this point.

Squares cut at 5 inches.
I did add two fabrics from my stash to make an even 12 fabrics.
Thus a total of 6 yards.

Next step sew them into groups of two, so I can them make a 4 patch.

This is the kind of quilting I just love!
Slow and steady wins the race.
I find if I hand piece the seams match up much better than if by machine.

NOW....

I know you are aware of all the fun Blog Hops that have been going on, well, what a treat when I went to get out my Christmas Decorations and saw this...

I had totally forgotten that I had made this for
The Christmas Blog Hop!
Now proudly displayed on my kitchen island.

A New Project!

I started a new project this weekend. My SIL asked for a Chicago Bears Quilt for my Grandson. Of course!!
Good Golly, I have to figure out this photo editing! Chicago Bears colors include orange! Really this is Kona Orange but I cannot make it look that way!  Anyhoo,  these are the fabrics I am using..

Cut into 5 inch squares.

A possible layout.

What I am working on...

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Despite all our rain which we needed, it was very nice
Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions for a new photo host program.  I have been experimenting, your eyes will tell me!

So, what have I been up to?

Of course
The Wizard of Oz Quilt.  Here is a sneak peek.

I am also working on a super fun Halloween Project.  Now this is not for the
WICKED BLOG HOP  starting soon. This is for ,well, when I get it done!!

This is an Amy Bradley Design.
How cute is this?!
She has so many darling patterns, which can be found

This is such a fun pattern and much easier than it looks!
I do not applique and I am able to make this beauty.

NOW,  I am not found of purple nor batiks, but look what I picked for the background squares! Amy picked just the right color. I could not change her choice. It was perfect!

I fused, traced and cut the pieces for each character.   I started with Frankie!

Here He is on an Applique Pressing Sheet. If you do not have one, this is an item you need!

The next step was to fuse him to the background and add the embellishments.

Hmm, I thought that it would be hard to hand quilt around all the pieces so I devised a plan of my own.

I decided, (with help from a friend, thanks Elaine), to make and quilt the top first.  Then I would add my characters and embellish.
Here is where I am now...

Of course any free time is giving to my
Katie Quilt!

I think this will keep me busy for a while.

WHEW!!

Now I want all of you to have a fun and creative week!
Happy Sewing!

Homecoming 2012

Feel free to stop here...Family Pictures

Maggie's Homecoming 2012

Last Saturday was Homecoming for Maggie. She was so lucky the weather was beautiful. She was also lucky as both sisters arrived to help her, with her hair and make-up!

Sisters

Now Maggie is not really that tall, her wonderful, fun loving, charming (you get the picture) Mom allowed her to get these super fun shoes!  She practiced all week walking! LOL!!   They happen to be one of her school colors.

Here she is...

When did I say she could grow up!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend too!

Bee Blocks

First I would like to thank everyone that gave me ideas and sent links to find knitted animal hats for the grandbabies. So many to choose from! Very exciting, thank you again!
Now on to some bee blocks I finished this week.  I am once again in the

This is a fun Bee. You pick one block and make it several times in colors your hive members picked.
I choose Red/White/Blue  Surprised?!
When I receive my blocks I will post them for all to see.

Here are the blocks I made for my group.

I love how different each block looks with just a change of color.

What is next?
Yes, the Wizard of Oz Quilt
~~add borders
~~make a backing
~~layer and pin

Goal by Sunday Night.  I think doable!

Katie and I !!

Oh, Katie and I have been having fun, a lot of fun!
I love to hand piece and she is just the best fabric in the world.
We are getting along quite nicely!
When I am done Katie will be

108 inches by 120 inches

No border, just Katie!

I like to work in sections so you will see a little scrap of paper pinned to the top left corners.
Row A section #1, Row A section #2  and so forth.

I have Rows A.B. and C done.

I am at a standstill while I wait for more yellow ribbon Katie to arrive, it is my favorite.

But,
Here she is so far!

WOW, first it was too sunny for pictures, then too dark. She did not want to go outside with me so this is the best we could do for now!

See in this above picture? I do not like those two blues together. I must do something about that!

OZ Peek

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Here in the states it was extra long!  I have been so busy working with my Katie's fabrics that I forgot to show you some peeks of my OZ Quilt.

BEFORE..

I show you that, let me say if anyone every thought about piecing a king size quilt
DO IT!!
This has been so much fun and it is moving along very quickly!   I will have some pictures to show you later this week.
But, back to the purpose of this post.

OZ PEEKS!!

I just have the border to put on and then the quilting will begin.

There is still Room in the Wicked Blog Hop.
Details on my side-bar.

Happy Sewing Everyone
