Thank you Happy Zombie.....

Thank you to Monica from Happy Zombie for this fun, free and delightful pattern. PLEASE, follow her directions and do not do it my way.
There is a reason she designs patterns and I do not. I have no clue.
So...
Thank you Monica…
Here is the link to her post about her darling, fresh and fun new fabric line and a link to the pattern.

This is what I have done so far with my “Dots”.

I took out my wonderful border book to look for inspiration, this is a must have book!!

A checkerboard border, using 2 ½ inch squares in dots.

I am also going to be working on my “Quilt Shop”

I need to decide what size to make my Quilt Shop, maybe 14 X 14.

So, that is what I am going to be working on this week.

How about you?

I knew this was happening…

I knew we were commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Civil War...
BUT...I did not see this blog until a dear friend brought it to my attention.
Barbara Brackman’s Blog is honoring the Civil War with not only a block a week but stories about the war.

ME, a big History lover, did not see this!!!

So, it is week 22 but all the weeks are posted and we can catch up, if we want!
She is also sharing this button for your blog.

Is it just me?
Have you seen this?
Are you making these blocks?
Inquiring minds would love to know!!

Have a happy long weekend!

Finca Threads are on sale until Tuesday.

Progess....

Oh Goodness even before I start this post, I want to set the record straight!!
This is not a tutorial!!
I just thought you might like to take a ride with me and see how my mind works as I progress on a project.
Warning, my mind works in very strange ways!!

I first showed you these fabrics….
They are 8 ½ inch squares.

I drew a line done the middle of the white squares

Next I placed a white and a dot fabric right sides together.

Sewed a quarter of an inch on each side of the line.

Cut on the line, ironed.

I now have a pile of these….

SEW far Sew good!!!!

I hope you have a weekend full of happiness!

Almost Two Years…

I started this nine patch quilt along with AmandaJean in August of 2009!!! This has always been my WIP (work in progress quilt). I worked on her whenever I was between other projects.
Well…
I am delighted to say.

“She is done, and I am in love”!!!!~!

It was a beautiful sunny day so I took her outside!

Here is the front...

For the back I wanted to use my scrap pile of pinks, not exactly even, but I still love the look.

Thank you to so many of you that gave me ideas for the sashing; I went with a simple curve hand stitched in pink. For the nine patches I stitched a double row X with white thread in each square.

I think you can see the X in this photo...

Just a peek at the stitching on the back.

This was worth all the time it took to make and will grace our bed this summer.

Happy Sewing!!

What a Dream.....

I have been quilting for over 25 years and have tried many kinds, lofts and brands of batting; but after making my daughter's quilt for her Wedding last summer I fell in love with this batting.
It is Quilters Dream “Request” Poly.
You would not DREAM it was Poly.
It is the thinnest loft which has always been my favorite. As the label says, ”wonderful light weight, exceptional for hand quilting” Yes, it is like stitching through butter!!

Do you think I have enough? Little T loves it!! BTW notice his shirt says “Big Brother”, yes, we are expecting our second grandchild in September!

“Just for fun” I have put two polls on my side bar about batting.
Inquiring minds (mine) would love to know what you use and like!!

Have a happy day!

Sew Bee Wonky Blocks....

This was a beautiful weekend! We finally saw the sun shining In Illinois. I spent almost the whole day Saturday watching my daughter play softball; let me tell you I was pooped!! All that fresh air was a killer. But, after a good nights rest I was ready to sew (and do laundry).
This month’s member asked for wonky hearts.
The orange border heart was paper pieced. I just love to paper piece!
The other two were free form. I made my own fabrics from her fabrics and some of mine, cut out a heart and yes, ME, I raw edged appliquéd the hearts onto a bright background.
This is what I love about bees, they test your skills! I so wanted to make the word “cutie” for her but after I made all the letters no matter how I tried to put them together part of them were getting cut off. I am sorry to say I had to give up on that idea.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Oh before I forget head over to “Sew I Quilt” for a chance at winning one of Madame Samm’s beautiful Banners!
