I started this nine patch quilt along with AmandaJean in August of 2009!!! This has always been my WIP (work in progress quilt). I worked on her whenever I was between other projects.
Well…
I am delighted to say.
“She is done, and I am in love”!!!!~!
It was a beautiful sunny day so I took her outside!
Here is the front...
For the back I wanted to use my scrap pile of pinks, not exactly even, but I still love the look.
Thank you to so many of you that gave me ideas for the sashing; I went with a simple curve hand stitched in pink. For the nine patches I stitched a double row X with white thread in each square.
I think you can see the X in this photo...

Just a peek at the stitching on the back.
This was worth all the time it took to make and will grace our bed this summer.
Happy Sewing!!

I LOVE this one too...took you awhile, but I am thinking you are getting quite a few done...is this the secret? lol. Start a whole bunch and years later finish them all up at once? And you know I think it would be great for a picnic blanket..but that is me..
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Jane! Totally worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteSo fresh and springy looking....great jb!
ReplyDeleteyou go Jane! I love it! The colors and quilting make me smile! And yes, it's perfect for a spring/summer bed.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, I bet it feels good to have it finished (uh-oh I'm ashamed to admit I haven't finished mine I better get right on that). It was a fun quilt along, nine patch and bright fabrics perfect for the summer!
ReplyDeleteGreat going!!
ReplyDeleteI started that same Quilt Along and just finished my quilt as well at the beginning of this month. It is one of my favorite quilts. I too kept working on mine in between other projects -Quilts for myself always tend to be put on the back burner. So I know how you feel to have it finally finished. Yours looks lovely and will look great on your bed for summer, and I love your hand quilting. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteI love it Jane and I love your quilting. I'm getting ready to hand quilt a top - haven't done that in years - and am trying to decide on the "design." Probably just straight lines for me but I'll think about your waves. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I, too, have never finished the quilting on mine. I need to get it out and work on it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the backing and all that lovely hand stitching! What a treasure!

A great finish, Jane. Love your choice for the back, and the hand quilting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I love the fabrics you used for the back. I am still working on mine.
ReplyDeleteYou have ever reason to be delighted with this lovely quilt. I think 2 years is pretty good - I'm sure it'll take me a lot longer to finish my first quilt!

Jane, I did this quilt a long too, but thought that I had to work along with Amandajean. I love your quilting works. I'm also going to try to do some different free motion this year and you are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Jane! Your hand quilting adds a sweet touch to this cutie-pie! I adore your summer quilt... enjoy your fruits of labor :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in love too, so beautiful.
