Birdie Stitches Block of the Month ~~ January

I spent a lot of quite and thoughtful time this weekend. I was able to finish my first block for the

Birdie Stitches Block of the Month

Wow, I have been away from embroidery a little too long. I need to work on my skills. I hope by the 12th month to have it all back again!! But this was such fun and I did learn a few things on the way. I used 4 strands of floss, a stabilizer to hide my mess and variegated pink floss for my bird. As you can see I have made my block for February. I did stitch a 1/8 inch seam all around the border to avoid fraying.

Come on February!!

  6. Jane, yours turned out sooooo cute. The other day I came up with the fabrics...the fabrics my niece gave me at Christmas...so I am thinking now I can do this....excited. Between you and Terry, you both inspire me to jump in with both feet.

  7. Your birdie is darling. I just finished mine last night. Need to press it and then will add it to the flicker group. Good idea about stitching 1/8" away from the edge to help prevent fraying. I also used four strands in mine.

  13. Really cute block. Your embroidery work looks great to me. But I know it is fun to practice and see how a skill improves over time. You'll be a master in no time.

  17. Great job Jane. I am going to do this BOM too. I bought some pink background fabric and now I am looking for the perfect jelly roll. I really don't want to cut out all those squares.
We have a big event coming up in our area with lots of vendors so I am sure to find one then.
