Moving forward…….

Let’s see skylights done and just waiting for drywall.

Downstairs…….

They had to re-route my laundry chute to fall in the area where the washer and drying sits. How neat is that. I mean they can do anything you want! It is amazing!

OK, so sometimes your husband can come up with a good idea. I try not to let on too often. But, this half wall was a good idea. It will still be my room but will give me the option to see into the other room and watch TT and future grandchildren play. Besides Maggie and my hubby knew I would not want to be a room alone!

Where will place the TV for some fun Wii gaming!

They did all this work in less than 2 weeks!
Monday, we will have an inspection of the electric and framework.
Did you know that now the city code is to have a smoke detector not just on every floor but every bedroom. So will be getting those in all 4 bedrooms and carbon monoxide on the different floors.
They insulation will go in Monday and Tuesday will be the insulation inspection.
If all goes well drywall will start on Wednesday!!
I cannot believe how fast this is all going!

And so it begins!

This will be the chronicle of our remodeling projects.
Work started Tuesday October 19th.

We can sit on a chair of lay on the couch and see trees!!

These babies will not leak; we had high wind warnings and a lot of rain and not one drip!!!

Next they will drywall and paint.

They also were working in the basement at the same time. Men coming and going all day. By the end of day two, this is what I saw!!

I am amazed at how fast and how efficient the work is progressing.
Until next time........

A Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Finish!

This finish was to be my sisters Christmas gift for 2009, then her Birthday gift for March 2010, so now it is an October Gift!!
When I hosted the red and aqua disappearing nine patch swap last year I joined twice. I knew I wanted a quilt with those colors and I know my sister loved them also.
So, here is her quilt and a little something extra for her.
Bumble the abominable snowman from Rudolph, which she loves!

Vacation Over! Not Moving!!

Aaaa vacation, it was wonderful! It was at home!!
After looking at houses and finding out that only one home in the past month sold in our town and since we are lucky to not have a mortgage, we have decide to stay put!
Yes we are still 20 minutes from Maggie’s school but she will be able to drive in two years and is quite thrilled to drive to school.
We have however been making major changes to our existing home. Because of my eye site our family room was very dark and I did not like to be in that room.

NOT anymore!! We had skylights put in, what a difference!!

We are also refinishing the basement, yes with a sewing room for me!!
I have one wall that is just closest with sliding doors!!!!
To have an open canvas to work with is so exciting!!
My office will stay put with my fabrics I am selling but my personal things will find a new home.

I am going to chronicle the work as it moves forward. This is mostly for me do not feel the need to read or comment; I know it will be boring to anyone but family!!

While the men were hammering away I did get some sewing done.

Oops electrician is here….

More later!!!

I am going to fill up a flat rate box full of some of my scraps. Take a peek. I will be added more until the box is bulging with fabric!

A Finish!!

A year in the making. Last year I held a Halloween Block Swap. Each person picked a Halloween item. They made twelve of the themed blocks and twelve 9 Patch blocks using two colors. In the end you would have 24 blocks, a nice lap size quilt. I however was lucky enough to also receive some blocks from some of the members of the other groups. My quilt is almost a king!!
It was a beautiful day outside so since I had no where in the house to take a picture of the whole quilt, I went outside.
Even being outside I was not able to get it all!!

Those who have read my blog for a while know I do not machine quilt, but I enjoy hand quilting. I was presented with the problem of how to quilt this baby??!! The 9 patches were no problem. I decided to treat each individual block as if it were a quilt. On some of the blocks I did a random design, some in the ditch and some ¼ outlined.

I used my old pal Snoopy for the back.

Hey!!! I think Maggie may have snatched up this one for now!!!

Number two now done on my side-bar of goals for 2010.
One to go, will she make it!!??

The Last Bee.....

The last bee I would like to talk about is the 3 X 6 Bee. I am sure many of you are familiar and or in this bee. One of the reasons I love this bee so much is because of the time commitment. You can choose how many times you would like to play. The year is broken up into quarters and you can pick one or all four. I am so sorry I missed a few quarters.
There is a caretaker of the hive and then there are six little bees. You make six blocks all the same size and pattern; the only difference is the colors. Your members let you know what three colors they would like you to use. I played last quarter and I am thrilled to be able to play twice this quarter. I am a little bee in one group and a caretaker in another.
The colors I choose were pink, orange and a touch of green.

These are my blocks from last quarter. I think they are amazing!!

Now we just started October 1st with this quarter so I do not have any blocks made yet…

BUT

I did do a little fabric shopping for this bee!! Really just a little!

I needed a few pink and orange prints.

I was low on green and blue.

And a new color I am falling in love with, grey.

I also picked up these prints
Just because!!
