Oz Progress

I thought I would show you the progress I have made on my Wizard of Oz quilt.

More panels finished.

I did make a decision about shashing. The quilt is so busy that I just decided to enlarge each block with the fabric it already has around the picture. It will hopefully fit together like a puzzle.
I took some pictures of the layout I want to use so I do not forget!

I am really going to need some luck with this one!!
Time shall tell the story.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Wizard of Oz

I have made some progress on the
Wizard of Oz Quilt
for my sister.
I have been working on the section of the movie that is all in color.
The pictures are from panels, so I cut out the pictures and lined them up on my design wall in chronological order. (I hope)

I then picked pictures from a part of the movie and made a large block.
This is one long piece but I took three pictures so you could see the details.
I love this fabric, it looks just like the movie.

"I don't think we are in Kansas anymore."
"Only bad witches are ugly."

"Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

"I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too!"

and how scared was I at this part
talking trees!!
(poor guy up-side down, I need to fix him)

"Poppies, Poppies, will make the sleep, sleep."

"Ahh, now that is a horse of a different color!"

Love the "Surrender Dorothy!"

This is as far as I have gotten. But, I am taking my time as I really want this to be special.
I am still trying to decide on a solid color to tie it altogether.  Any ideas?

Before I Begin a Project.....

I am not sure if this is just me or if there are others out there that are as OCD as I am!!
Before I start a new project I have a few steps I have to go through to get ready.

Empty the garbage from the last project.

Be sad that the garbage has the empty candy box. (mental note, get more)

Clean all the lint from the last project.

Fill all my bobbins.

Oil the machine, check the needle.

Check the water in the iron
Check rotary blade.

Vacuum.

Test machine.

NOW!!!
Start to sew!

This is what I got done today.

Now that is how I prepare for a new project.
How about you?

Next Project

This quilt has been a long time coming. It will be for my sister. She is a lover of the movie
"Wizard of Oz"
These have sat on my shelf for a very long time as I just did not know what I wanted to do with them. Well, I took all the fabrics to my friend Elaine and just said "help".  With her help I now have a plan. BUT..
Let me warn you.
You will not see this until Christmas 2012!
Here is a peek at some of the fabrics.

I was so scared of Elmira Gulch!!!

Some fabric choices.

A panel for a pillow.

I am going to make it a double sided quilt.
One side sepia.
The other color.

I may give sneak peaks in the future.
I could sure use some luck with this one!!
Now I just need to start!

Graduation Quilt

This last weekend my oldest niece graduated from High School. I told her I would like to make her a quilt. So, we went fabric shopping and she choose these fabrics. I believe I already posted this picture. But here they are again!

I gave it to her last Sunday at her party and I do believe she liked it!!
After all, she picked out the fabrics!!

I have also been working on some
red-white-blue blocks for our blog hop.
Just a little pile of, oh so yummy fabrics.

That's it all you get to see until
JULY 1ST

The Schedule is posted on my side-bar!
Be prepared to be inspired by all these amazing bloggers!

Happy Sewing!

A Few Things...

Just a few things on this Sunday evening....
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Full of family, fun and love.
I had a lovely day! I thought I would show you what Maggie made for me.

How about this for color inspiration!
It is now hanging in my sewing room.
I love it!

What I have been working on....

Wonky Stars for my Wonky Swap.
I love to make these stars and (giggle) I am using my own tutorial!
(Found on my side bar)!!

I am also working on my niece's quilt. I want to have it down by June 10th for her celebration.
I have such GREAT RESPECT  for machine quilters. I just cannot "make it work"!!  I was going nuts just putting on the border for her quilt.  All that fabric on my lap, on the floor, slung over my shoulder! YIKES!!  You machine quilters are amazing!!

I also am trying to learn EQ6! Well, I am happy to say so far so good.  What, yes I am still on lesson one!

So, off to softball this week!  Our team is conference champs and we are so hoping to go to state. Please wish us luck!

Happy Sewing.
