My Turn!!!!

Well, after reading all the blogs the last 6 months about irons, I was thrilled my was still working. That is, until today!!
Now I was faced with the same decision…
Which iron to purchase?
I am very hard on my irons, I need one every year or two. I have tried so many different brands, loved my Black and Decker, but after a year, it leaked! Loved my sunbeam, which made it two years until it leaked. My Rowenta, one month, it leaked!
So, I hopped in the car and looked and thought, just get one, it will only last a year anyway!! So, I am trying a Rowenta again, it was only $10 more than the last one I bought and I like that it has a lot of steam holes. I love steam.

While I was there I also picked up a new ironing board cover. It reminds me of one my grandmother would have used.

I hope this does not leak after a month, if so, there is going to be trouble!!!!

  1. I feel your pain! I have yet to spend the $$ to replace one bad iron after another. So I'm still using my $15 Black and Decker and it only leaks if I carelessly overfill it. Keep us posted on your iron adventures because inquiring minds need to know.

  2. That's the one I bought in October. So far, so good. I still long for the lying Shark -- so hot and steamy with a large sole plate. Oh, why can't we have it all? -- michele

  3. That looks like a great Rowenta. I have never had any issues with mine and have had it for a long time. I am pretty hard on mine too and am glad that they seem to persevere. The steam is wonderful on it and I always joke that when I am at the ironing board I am getting a facial. Best of luck with you new iron.

  4. Hi Jane! I'm real tough on irons, too, and once I found one that worked for me, I went out and bought another one just to stash when the one I'm using kicks the bucket.

  5. I love steam too! Hope you have good luck with your new iron. 'Knock-on-wood' my current Sunbeam is still working. ;-)

  6. Good luck with this one. I don't understand why we can't get one that lasts longer than a year or two.

Did you see the cute ironing board on Moda Bake Shop today? Sooo cute!

  7. So sad that we can't find irons that will last! Just another symptom of the "throw away attitude." I literally cried when my last really good iron died. It had been my [Grand]Mama's. It was closing in on 30 years old!

  10. I was so glad to hear that I was not the only one that had an iron leak after only a month. I purchased a Rowenta because it was highly rated, but now I am questioning the quality of Rowenta irons. Please let me/us know if your new Rowenta works out a bit better. Hope it does...

  11. I love my Rowenta and have had it for years. I think the trick to it not leaking is to be sure it's hot, and keep it clean. Just my 2 cents.

  16. It's funny isn't it Jane, it wasn't until I took up quilting that I took such an interest in my iron. Before, if it just took out the wrinkles it was fine he he he.
    Hugs,
    Joy :o)

  18. I have a B&D and do love it! I watch Sewing with Nancy and she uses the Rowenta. One can hear the steam all the time. You must be pleased with it.
I don't know what you do to your irons girl....a good thing they can be replaced easily.
I was looking at my cover yesterday and thought that after all these years, I should change it too. Something to shop for.
I've been so busy that I haven't been blogging or reading posts either. I missed it.

  20. My newish Rowenta (now 1 year old) is working perfectly. I have 2. One in my sewing room and one the family uses. I don't share. So far so good. I know what you mean.

  21. My iron leaked after I dropped it about ten years ago, so I always just sprayed my fabric with a spray bottle. I bought myself a new iron a couple of months ago and I have yet to use the spray feature. I just keep going back to the spray bottle.
