What a Whirlwind Month ~~~Warning Family Post, Picture Heavy

What a month we just had!  One thing after another.
It was non-stop fun!

Athletic Banquet

It started in the beginning of May when hundreds of senior students were chosen by the newspaper to represent their school in their respective sports.
Maggie was chosen to represent her school for softball.

There were so many students and families at the banquet.

It was fun to see all the names scroll by in larger than life lights.
It was hard to capture in a photo but I tried!

The following weekend was

Senior Prom

Fun Pictures in the Backyard

I loved her hair!

Our middle daughter and husband surprised her by showing up at the venue as she got off the bus!
They live downtown Chicago and the Prom was held at
The Museum of Science and Industry.

How fun is this!!

Waiting for Maggie.

I see the buses!

Sisters

Awards Night for Academics

Not only did she receive athletic awards we are proud to say she received academic awards as well.
Not great pictures, but pictures none the less.

Senior Day for Softball

As is the custom at our school the last home game is Senior Day.
The senior girls are greeted with a decorated field, a college going away gift, speeches, and yummy food.

It was very hard for us this year as Maggie has been going to her Dad's games to watch her sisters since she was born. She played softball with him since she was 6 and now is heading to play softball at college.

I love how they used cups to decorate the fields.

The Big Day!
Graduation 2014!!!

OUR GIRL!

BUT....
The day was not over!
We were going back to the house for a party but instead headed to the hospital for the birth of our third grandbaby!
Becky who took the graduation pictures left a little early and four house later we had a new baby in the family!!

Home Sweet Home

A few days later we celebrated Maggie's graduation!
Age three wearing her sister's cap and her senior picture decorated her cake.

BUT WAIT!
We have one more graduate!
Little Man Graduated from Preschool!
He will be off to kindergarten next fall.

LET THE SUMMER FUN BEGIN!

Fabrics Chosen

Not a lot of sewing going on this week but plenty of family things! I did pick the fabrics for my oldest daughter's quilt.

Thank you again for all your help in trying to figure out the sizes to cut for a king size quilt using this pattern.

I am going with a 6.5 unfinished square surrounded by 2.5 border and a 2.5 or 3.0 inch sashing.
I was thinking a little wider sashing so my Navy stitching would show up. Not quite to taht point yet.

I think this will work and look like it is in my mind!
 We shall see!!

Here are the greens,  I would call these apple green.

And the blues...

and together...

sashing will be Kona White.

I hope to start next week.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you do something you love.

Like a Jigsaw Puzzle

First a huge thank you to everyone who helped me in my pattern search.
Thank you for the links, suggestions, math help, EQ help and encouragement.

I have it solved and will share the new fabrics with you next week.

Now, back to the puzzle.
I will tell you just in case you did not know I am having a ton of fun with the Farmer Wife Blocks!!

I am on month 5 of Laugh Yourself into Stitches, Crafsty Patterns.

Found HERE

But I am an impatience soul. So for the blocks not presented in the given month I head to the Yahoo Farmer's Wife group.
They have all the blocks in paper piecing PDF.

Siooooo....
I print the pattern.
Look at the picture in the book and label each piece with the color or print I plane to use for the block.

Cut the Pieces.

Look at the picture in my book.
Compare it to the paper piecing pieces.
Lay them out in an order that makes sense.

I proceed to sew each piece and lay it back just as is in the book.

Flip it over.

Sew.

and Ta Da!!

This block was an easy layout but look at this one!!
Now this is where the puzzle comes into play.
You have to figure that out yourself and it is not always as you think it would be.
Take this block, looks like a nice patch.

But no, take a gander at this layout!!

After I have it laid out I marked the order so I will remember how to put it back together!

sew, rip. sew.
Put together, rip off the paper, iron and

A block!  Only two hours later!!

Slow and steady wins the race!  Happy Sewing!

Opps, some last editions for this week!

Searching....

Hi, blogging friends, when I was on Pinterest I found these picture of this quilt....

I have quite a bit of Katie Jump Rope left and my oldest daughter fell in love with this quilt.

I tracked down the picture to flickr where she linked to

YIPPEE!!!

Only do find out they are out of business.

I even flickr mailed the member to see if she knew where I could purchase this pattern.

No answer.  Which I am not surprised as this is many years old.

I know it is a long shot but does anyone have this pattern and if so would you be willing to lend or sell it to me?

Thanks for any leads you may be able to give me.

I did manage to get a few Farmer's Wife Blocks done...

I am not giving up on the others!
I have a total of 28 done!

I am just going to keep making them until I cannot, does that make sense?!
