Sailing, Sailing!!!!

I am so blessed, I was asked to be part of a quilting bee.  We are called the The Sew Sweet Bees and the queen bee is Donna from Donna's Lavender Nest.
I was lucky to get January!

I asked the members if they would make me a sailboat block using fat quarter shop snapshot sailboat in daysail fabric  Look at the wonderful blocks I received!

I cannot wait to make this quilt!

Do you see the little label on member made for me!

I need to make two more boats and I thought it would be fun to have a big anchor in the middle. (even though I do not applique!)

Other members blocks

February queen bee asked for hearts in flower sugar fabrics.

March queen bee asked for Surround Star in 1930's Fabrics.

Both of these blocks are from tutorials that are from Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew.  Amazing tutorials!!

I cannot wait to see what our April queen bee will want!

Wall-Hanging Flimsy Finished

I took the cover off my Juki and put borders on this pinwheel quilt I started last spring. Now I do not know if this is just me or if others do this too, but this is just the top! She is so far down in the queue to be basted and quilted I thought I would hang her and enjoy her for the spring.
Pattern Gracie's Garden by Karen Bennett. Fabrics from my stash except the green dots as I wanted a nice bright green.

How do you sort scraps?

I have seen so many tips on saving and sorting scraps that I thought I would show you how I do mine.

Top left, I have a strip left over so, lower left, I place it on top of the corespondent fabric and then, right picture I fold and store them together. If I only have a smidge left I store them by color in shoe box size containers. I slip marked index cards in the storage box with the color written on them so if I need to change it, I just change the card.

I have always been afraid to cut the fabric into sizes as I know if i cut one inch I will need it two inches!!

I have six more but these tend to be the ones I use the most.

Do You Have a Favorite?

Do you have a favorite fabric line?  Mine is Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt.  I now have to say I fell head over heels for Daysail by Bonnie and Camille.  I have been collecting it for a while and have planes to use it in a few projects later in the year.  This is what i have so far.
Yes, you read that right, so far! I am always on the look out for scraps or sales!

Hmm,
looks like I need some navy!

Great Tool

This is the best notion I never knew I needed!! You can thread 10 needles, any size, any length thread and load them into the donut! You load them 1-10 and unload them 10-1. For a hand piercer and hand quilter this is amazing! I have one but now I know I will need another!
