Our Trip to Philly!!!

What a wonderful two days!!! As I mentioned, My oldest daughter Becky, bride-to-be, Emily, Maggie and I. Oh silly me of course the groom–to-be!, all flew from Chicago to Philly to spend some time with Randy’s family and to attend a bridal shower for Emily given by her absolutely wonderful and delightful, mother-in-law to be!

We arrived in Philly about 4PM and what did my wonderful future SIL do? Why he knows me so well he took me to one of my favorite places. He took me here even before he went to see his family!! What a great guy! Oh where? Well, as far as I know there are only two states in the US that have this little place, I believe it started in Philadelphia.
RITA”S Water Ice!!
We have all have had a DQ float BUT this is Water Ice made with fresh fruit, (Cherry)!!!! And layered with the best frozen custard on the earth!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The last time I had Rita’s was about 5-6 years ago, when Emily was attending Swarthmore College. What a sweet boy to take us there! NOW, that was just the start.

We next headed to Randy’s house to meet the family. I have met his parents, and they are wonderful, but Randy is the oldest of 12 children, ranging in age from 25 to 5. So, we got to meet the children, grandparents and friends of the family.

I told you I was bad at pictures and was having such fun that night, that of course I forgot to take any Friday night!!

I do have a picture of the hostess gift I brought Randy’s Mom, Mindy.
It was a box of Fannie May Candy, two pot-holders, a market bag, and a table topper.

Emily gave her a beautiful heart picture frame with a picture of her and Randy.
My daughter is such a lucky girl to be able to be part of this extraordinary family. This is a family that when you first meet them, you feel as if you have been part of there lives forever! The warm, caring, given, feeling you get cannot be described,
Wait yes it can, FAMILY!!
We had a wonderful time and I hated to leave but I knew it was going to be a big day for Randy’s Mom on Saturday.

So, we headed back to the hotel.
Sorry, but we did not invite dad, just us girls.

Maggie and I in one bed, Becky in her own bed, and Emily had the pull out. Now I have no idea what the problem was, Maggie and I had wonderful nights sleep, but for some reason Becky kept yelling, who is snoring, who is coughing. Hmmm, no idea!!!

Saturday morning was fun; I forgot what it was like to have all us girls in one room, with one sink, and one shower getting ready to go out. What fun, music, dancing, laughing ,makeup, hair and getting dressed.

Here we are ready to leave for the shower.
Becky, Maggie, Me, Emily

And my three beautiful daughters!

This is where the shower was held, there were over 70 ladies. Look at how beautiful this was…

Emily and Mindy(see how sweet she is)!!

Emily and two of her future SIL'S, aren't they breathtaking?

Here I am stalking this poor woman I did not even know because I loved her hair so much!! She said she cuts it herself! It was super cute!

We had brunch, there was so much food and it was all wonderful!!
We even had entertainment! There was a magician, super fun!!

After dessert, Randy arrived and they opened presents.

So much work and planning went into this shower and we are so grateful! Again, how lucky to become part of this wonderful family.

  10. Oh I wish I had been in line by Rita's with you. I know we've talked before about this but I'm pretty absent minded. My daughter went to Bryn Mawr and took some classes at Swarthmore too. I miss RIta's!!! SIGH. Love Philly. I'm glad it all went well. The photos are fabulous. Good for you and your family. I am sure it was nice weather judging from your clothes and the outdoor pics. It has been so cold for may here. Usually may is warm in PA.

PS Just love the postholders and the table topper. I've had some of that fabric for a long time and never quite knew what to do with it. You are once again very inspirational!
