Finished....

I know, I know, As much as I do not want to believe it, I know it is fall! I have finished UFO #3 for Finn’s New Years Challenge. This is my SUMMER table-topper. See how I placed it next to my last red geranium. I made this topper from one of my fat quarter’s sets. If you like this fabric, take a peek at my store, I have the fat quarter sets, and yardage listed. One UFO to go to finish my challenge!!

Look!!!!!

Look!!
Yes, I do have an on-line fabric shop! Yes, I have hundreds of bolts of fabric! You would think that would stop me from buying more! Alas, it does not!!!
Lookie, Lookie, what came!! Thanks to Nanette for steering me to reprodepot.com, I got some Japanese fabric!! I order ½ yard of each of these and have no idea what I am going to do with them! Wait, I know, show you pictures and after that I am going to look at it, touch it, smooth it, re-fold it and love it!!
Now these prints are not the cotton we are use to, they are more of a woven decorator cotton.

These are what I would call quilters cotton.

Love the wording on the print….

One day a good friend brother and animals lived very much.

The depths of a forest found a house of cake deeply what!

Two people ate a cake of the full. I spent very happy time.

I know I will spend a very happy time with this fabric too!!

What is Next????

Boy, I just can’t seem to get into the swing of things this week. I know this will, shock, offend, alarm, insult and upset some of you BUT, I do not like fall! I long for my hot, humid, leave the windows open, have the kids home, carefree days of Summer. Yes, I admit it, I love, love, Summer. So this week, it is getting colder, the darkness is getting longer, the windows now need to be shut, I have had to PUT ON THE HEAT!! I have put away my shorts, pulled out my jeans, and even wear a coat! What’s next? Winter!!!!!

Have a super Day!!

Scarecrow Festival

23rd Annual Scarecrow Festival
St. Charles, Illinois

I thought I might share with you a little glimpse of my hometown, St. Charles, Illinois. The beautiful Fox River runs right through the middle of town. My husband’s office is on Main Street and we live within walking distance of the river. On the 4th of July we lay out our blankets and watch the fireworks over the river, we are so close the ashes fall on us from the fireworks.
Another fun event is the Scarecrow Festival. There are so many scarecrows, all crowded in a park setting. There are several categories for you to enter you scarecrows, from mechanical to business, to children. There is also a craft fair with at least a hundred booths of fun! Food galore, and of course the amusement rides. Here are a few pictures I took today as we were enjoying the event.
In order to get to the craft fair we have to walk over the street and the river. This is a picture from the bridge.

Look at all the craft booths! Just heaven!

Just one of the booths.

The amusement part as we are making our way back across the main street bridge to the scarecrows.

This is a picture from our Main street, if you look down the river you will see the bridge we walked over and farther down is our neighborhood on the left.

It was crazy at the scarecrow part so I only took a few pictures.

From a Girl Scout Troop, see their cute footprints on the yellow brick road!

My husband is taking my 12 year old daughter and some of her friends to the “rides” tomorrow I think I will stay home and quilt!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

When I was 12 or 13 years old (a long time ago!), I was in love with “Peanuts”. I even wrote to Charles Schultz, no answer, but I wrote . We lived in Chicago when I was little and there were the two big newspapers, The Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times. My Dad was a Sun Times man, he always said it was in an easier format to read. Now, mind you, Peanuts was in the Chicago Tribune. I had an Uncle who would save the papers for me so I could read the comic strip. He would come over every Sunday bring the paper and get us 5 kids, 2 dozen Good Humor bars from the ice cream truck. He never married and we were his family, I loved him dearly. Well, when I was in 7th grade we moved to a suburb of Chicago, St. Charles (where I am also raising my family) this wonderful, kind man, would cut the strip out every day, make it into a booklet and mail it to me. The other fun part was every two weeks or so one of the strips would be in color, I think it was on Wednesday. I still have these and will never part with them. He also got me my Snoopy Flying Ace music box that plays “over there”. Yes, it still works. My youngest daughter loves Peanuts too!! Check out the cost of Pepsi then! Thanks Leo xoxox

My cottages are done!!

I am having so much fun with this swap! Thanks again to Nanette and Terri for hosting this swap. I am sure everyone agrees the fun part was deciding which fabric for which part of the cottage. I have decided not to embellish my blocks, not sure if you are going to make a wall-hanging or a cozy quilt, so I will leave the decorating to you!! I cannot wait until we exchange blocks. It will be such fun to get that envelope in the mail! Speaking of fun, click on the button on my side-bar to go to Melissa’s cottage open house. What a super fun idea! I will certainly be there. Here are a few pictures of my cottages.
