New Needle Book, Kit, Case

I have been wanting to try to make a Needle Book for some time.  So that is what I did this week. I used Nana's Company Tutorial  found  HERE.

I have also wanted to try my hand at 1/2 inch Hexagons.
Wow, are they tiny!

So I pulled out my scraps and got to work.

I decided to make one hexie flower for the front of the book.

The back (my hoarded kerchief girl), the binding, the front.

Now to embellish the book.

The lining.

Front and lining sewed together.

Now to get the "pages" ready.

I added four pages.

I even found fun pins on-line!

Here she is today . I have used her everyday since I made it.
Such a fun project.

New to the store.....
Lecien flower Sugar Fat Quarter Bubndle.

College Quilt Gifted

Our youngest leaves for college this Thursday. So this is the last post I will post for a while.  We will be taken her and getting her all settled. But before I take a break I would like to show you the quilt I made for her for college. I am sure many of you know that dorm beds are twin XL. I like to make dorm quilts a double so they can tuck them in on the side.
Maggie choose aqua and coral.  I will admit I have never used coral so it was fun to find those fabrics.

The pattern we choose was
Happy Zombie

Pattern found

I just made it larger.
This was a fun, mordern pattern and had easy instructions to follow.

What was funny was that after we picked the fabric and the pattern, Maggie did not want to see the quit until it was finished.

It was hard to hand quilt because I could only work on it when she was out of the house. I quilted the quilt in a cross-hatch pattern.

So without further ado, I present

Patio in Aqua and Coral.

Have a wonderful week and I will "see" you soon.

50 States

Oh my gosh this has my name written all over it!

It is the 50 States Stitching Club hosted by Mollie of Wild Olive.

It has all the elements I love.
First, America!
then quilting, paper piecing, embroidery, raw edge applique, who could ask for more.
This staredt a few weeks ago but I just joined.  You can join anytime you wish.
Each week we will receive a state mofit to embroider and some fun facts about the state. Mollie is working in sections and we are now in the Eastern Part of the USA.

I started by printing out the star pattern on cardstock (sad face they did not have pink). Cut them out and began to paper piece the points with White Kona.

I hit my stash and decided to go very Patriotic.

I made NJ!  how cute is this little guy!

Next will be adding the star points and appliqueing it on to the fabric.  I also have to remember to blot off the embroidery stitching lines.
I have a few more to make to catch up but I adore handwork so there is no rush.

Come join the fun!
All information can be found

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you do something you love.

Green and Navy Quilt Gifted!

The king size green and navy quilt that I have been working on is done and gifted to my DD and SIL.

It went from...

To into the washing machine.

Into the Dryer.

Fresh, warm, fluffy and cozy out of the dryer.

And, to its new home!

Hey! Two little monkeys jumping on the bed.
Baby brother was sounds asleep for this photo shoot.

This was a super fun quilt to make!  I see more of this pattern in my future.
