Has this ever happened to you?

Seriously I feel as if I've wasted two whole days.

I am trying to paper piece some farmer wife blocks.
Yesterday I spent hours sewing the paper pieced pieces, but then had no idea how to assemble them! I mean how to you attach that little pink square!

Sorry the pictures are on my old mat!  I do have nicer ones, LOL!

Now in the garbage!

Today I spent four hours trying to make this one block; seriously four hours, I have such a headache.  No matter what I did they did not turn out. I even tried to make then HST's individually.
 Still did not work!

Once again in the garbage!

Have you ever had days like this? One step forward two steps back?

Now on a lighter note!  My friendship blocks for this month turned out great. Maria and I choose.....

A Date With Rosie

I hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend.
I can say that here in Illinois,
Spring has Sprong!
This was the kind of weekend where you just wanted to be outside.

My Easter Grand-Bunnies!

So, It was time to bring out Rosie!

Ahh, the girl (bike) is still in shape after a long winter of just sitting in the garage.  As for me, nope, it is going to take a while to get back on the horse so too speak!
But when I ride my bike I feel like a child again.  So happy, and carefree.
I love my bike!

I am Pretty Excited About This One! I forgot to add the picture of the finished project!

I have to admit, I am very excited about this project!
I have been making red, white and blue hexies for about a year.
I have plans to make a quilt with the hexies.
BUT...
I wanted to try something a little smaller first.
So I took a handful of my hexie flowers and stitched them together.  So far so good.
I pulled out the mylar hexies as I went along stitching.
I laid it flat and ironed it smooth.
So far so good.

BUT THEN

I remembered I have no idea how to applique!
How am I going to attach the hexies to the fabric.

I took a piece of Kona white
added three layers of batting
another layer of Kona white
and pinned the whole kit and caboodle together.
This way the stitches will be on the back!
Yippee!!

I decided to hand stitch around each hexie and also outline the whole piece.  I wanted the hexies to pop so that is why I used three layers of thin batting.

Let the stitching begin!

Now I could embroider and my stitches would be in the inside of my project.

What project, you may say?

Why a large pillow!
This baby is 20 X 20 inches!

I also was lucky and had the perfect backing.

Once again I used my favorite pillow tutorial.

I still have a ton of flowers left for a quilt!

BUT NO.....
NOT NOW....

I am making more hexies with my beloved Katie Jump Rope Scraps for a pillow to match Katie!

Happy Sewing!

Paper Piecing

I love to paper piece.  Love to see those points and the seams match.  But even though I know how, tips are always welcome!  When I received an email from craftsy today saying that the queen of Paper Piecing, Carol Doak, had a class, I jumped on it!

What I did not know was that it was on sale!!  This is the first on-line class I have ever taken and I am looking forward to some helpful tips.
You might want to take a peek and join me!

Bibs

Spring Break is coming to an end.  The house is clean, the egg hunt was a success and much fun was had theses past days!
Sewing, not really!  I know, right?

I did mange to make a few bibs.
There is a great pattern from  Nana Company.

I did make it a little bigger and longer because even if you are 2 1/2 chocolate ice cream comes can drip!

I traced the pattern on to cardboard.

Puller out some pre quilted white fabric and hit the scrap and orphan block pile.

I love the pre quilted fabric. I just machine quilted the bib on the same lines!
It held up great in the wash.

Check out her tutorial. They are fast, fun and useful!

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you do something you love.
