Bringing Out The Old

I have a different philosophy on UFO's. Most quilters want to finish them! I do not count my UFO's.  If I enjoy making blocks and do not finish, I figure that in that process I had fun, I learned, and yep, I did not finish!  I move on to a new project...
BUT
This one I do want to finish!  I started this last October.
It is the Amy Bradley Happy Halloween Quilt. Found HERE.
I was hoping to finish it for Halloween last year but alas no such luck.

It will happen for this year!

Amy's patterns are amazing! Her directions are crystal clear and so easy to follow.

Now because I do not machine quilt I decided to put the whole quilt together and quilt it BEFORE I added the applique pieces.
Here is the top.

I have all the pieces cut and ready to fuse to the quilt.  Here is a sample of one of the blocks.

Frankie!

He is on an Applique Sheet. If you do not have one of these I encourage you to purchase one. They are wonderful!

Next he will be fused to the top as will his friends.

I will show you my progress in a day or so. This is one UFO I intend on finishing.

Happy Sewing!

  1. I don't sweat the UFO list thing either. When I first started blogging, I joined in everything and ended up with a huge pile. Some got finished, some passed on to charity groups and some still wait their turn. And I love making blocks, so orphan blocks pile up, too - but I like to send those on to Sarah's group to finish playing with.

  2. I can see why you want to finish this oe. Frankie is great! I have an appliqué sheet but I use it more as a pressing cloth. Do you actually fuse the pieces together first on the sheet before transferring?

  3. A friend of mine made Amy's Halloween quilt and it's so cute. I bought one of those applique sheets about 18 years ago and it still looks new and works great! I too highly recommend those applique sheets. Of course there are several brands out there, and some aren't as good. I think mine was from Thread Bear, or Bear Threads, something like that.

Maybe you could explain in a blog post how that applique sheet works since I have never seen one before.
