I love to make string blocks! They are such fun, work up quickly and give a fun modern scrappy look. I am involved in a one time swap for string blocks. Make as many as you like, send them in and receive the same amount back all mixed up!
I decided to make twenty.
It is fun and fast! I put all my scraps in a box, reach down grab one and try very hard not to be matchie, matchie! I work on paper although I know many work on muslin. I have never done it without paper. I hand quilt so I thought it would be easier to quilt with just one layer of fabric.

Here are my first four (paper still on) blocks.
Love you blocks! I love string blocks too. You always seem to find the good groups to swap with. Can't wait to see what all you get in return. Jenn

Great idea to get your scrappy pile downsized ! might have to give this a try ! !
ReplyDeleteLuv string piecing too and will have to give paper a try. Using muslin does make for a heavy quilt. .... :o)
ReplyDeleteI love string blocks! Your look great. I prefer paper too. I don't like the stiffness and thickness that muslin adds.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are wonderful and so colorful!
