A Finish

I was able to finish the baby boy quilt this weekend! I used one of the bindings I made last week and a nice soft flannel for the back.  He is now in the dryer getting all warm and cozy and ready to be delivered to the new little man!

Color

I am not sure about you but I have trouble with color. I tend to agonize over it and then when I do choose I wish I had chosen differently.
This baby boy quilt is an example of hard color choices. As you can see from the pattern there are many, many colors.

How in the world am I going to decide which fabric to use where?
Then I had an idea!  I cut all the strips and put them in a box. I leaned over and picked one at random for the block. Started to sew and kept on picking! For me, this worked!

Here is my quilt to date...

My First Barn

This is so much fun!
Thank you to Lori from
for this fun project!

I made my first barn! It took a little longer for me as I hand pieced the barn. I know me, and I can get better matching of seams if I hand piece. Here she is...

I can't wait to make another!

Baby Boy Quilt

A dear friend of mine just had her 5th grandbaby!  It was a boy.  So I am making him a baby quilt. I love bright for babies!  So I found this adorable fabric at Joann's.
Hello little guys in the submarine!  I think they are so cute.

Then I hit my stash for my bright fabrics.

Choose this pattern from Pleasant Valley Creations.  Jase's Quilt.  I love her patterns! Fun, bright, well written and simple!

This is my quilt to date.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Do something you enjoy!

Pillow

I have been having fun making Hexies. I tell you they are like chips, you just cannot make one!

This is going to be a pillow. I thought just this strip down one of the sides and then stitch around them with big stitch quilting.

I have quite a few left over so I was thinking of making pot holders.

My friend Elaine brought over her Hexie Quilt, I forgot to ask her how many Hexies she made for this beautiful Flower Garden Quilt.  The top is done and she is ready to sandwich it and start the hand quilting.  I just love the yellow border, it is a true 1930's color to match her 1930's fabrics.  It is just amazing!

She kindly gave me the hexies she still had cut!  Now I do not think I will make a quilt that large but I sure can have a lot of fun with these prints!

If you would like to give hexies a try, now would be a great time.
My mylar hexies are on sale for the next two weeks.

4th of July started out with a bang!
First the 5K run (no I watched the babies!)
Then my dear friend Elaine invited us over to pick cherries at her house.  Not only did the babies have fun, but so did my oldest daughter and SIL. Cherry pies on the way!!

4th Fun!

Little T~~ 4 years old
Little M~~22 months

THEN!!
My middle daughter thought it would be fun to play Red Rover!
With the adults.

I tell you those SIL's would not let go!  Nothing like having your daughters hanging on your arms.
I hurt in places I did not know I had!!

Of course we ended the day with fireworks.
Hope you had a wonderful day too!
