FINALLY!!!!!!!

One of the first swaps I was in was with Nanette from Freda’s Hive. We all made Christmas Cottages using Nanette’s Pattern (HERE) and our fabrics. We sent them to her; she mixed them up and sent back new ones. This was such a fun swap and a great house pattern. I have used the pattern several times since.
I was so excited to receive my cottages and make my top. Well, it did not happen for that year, or the next, or even this past Christmas.

BUT………

It will for 2011!!!!!!

I finally have the top together! Oh my, it was such fun looking and placing the houses. It brought back such fond memories!!!

Hmmmm, I have a lot of tops done….

Quilters elbow is going to start if I hand quilt to much.
Man getting old stinks!!!

Here it is….

Not sure how to quilt it? Any ideas???

  1. Love the one with the heart on the roof. I have my first (and probably last) swap blocks all in a pile. They are from Christmas...I'm not up to a Christmas quilt again until the snow at least melts!!

I don't have a long-arm so would probably do some in the ditch. Some ideas are some pebble type for the roofs, brick type for the houses, hearts for the windows. That would be a lot of work though!!

  7. I have an idea - it's called MACHINE quilting! Save your elbow for important things - like holding T!! Call Nancy! lol I need to make mine when I get back to IL! Thanks for the inspiration!

  9. How cute! how about quilting around the lines of each house, then quilting clouds into the sky sections of each block? However you do it, it will be lovely!

  10. It is darling! I love it. I'm glad I happened back today to see it. I would take it to a long arm quilter. Let someone else do it!! Use an all over holly pattern or something.

  11. I love your little houses- they are so sweet. I made a house quilt before... I remember that the roof tops have the cutest scallops on it. Vines in the sashing but I will have to take another look and see how the rest is quilted- I have it hanging up in the living room:)

  16. Love your neighborhood quilt top, Jane. Aren't block swaps fun?

I have participated in a few, two which you hosted and they are sitting in a box waiting for the construction dust to settle after our HUGE move, just waiting to be pieced together. Seeing your finished top has lit the inspirational flame once again.

I jeep on telling myself...soon...soon, it will be all over and our lives will return to normal.
