Sometimes when I sew on the machine, I do not turn on the TV, because I will not get enough work done. So, my mind wanders, here was today's wandering...
I was working on my Rainbow Swap Blocks and was wishing my fabric was wider, then I wandered to when fabric was 36 inches wide, wander more, when did it change? wander more, why did it change? wander more, and for pete's sack why 44-45? why not 46? or even 50? I am going back and turn on the TV!!!!!
LOL My mind wanders too.
ReplyDeleteFunny, Jane! I keep my tv on to prevent my mind from wandering away - LOL!!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Yeah! My mind does that all the time! But you have a point there.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a tv near the sewing machine...i usually just turn mine on really loud so i can hear it from downstairs in between seams...of course when everyone is away that is.
ReplyDeleteIf I have to really concentrate, I have to turn the TV off but sometimes if it's a good movie from the 30's or 40's it really makes the sewing or cleaning or whatever a whole lot more fun! I have found more cool quilt designs in old movies!! By the way, love your tunes and found some on your list that I will add to my list! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're funny Jane! Now *I* would like to know the answers to those questions!
ReplyDeleteMGM
My mind wanders also, but I listen to the radio here in Ontario, to oldies radio on am and my husband thinks I should switch to fm, but they don't play oldies!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about why the measurements are such and I don't care...but now I will think about it...turn on the radio...
Funny, I do the same thing when the TV or radio is off. Sometimes you just have to turn it on!
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not the only one whose mind wanders!
ReplyDeleteI have wondered that too! Why not the size of a regular quilt so we don't have to buy that big stuff??
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a lot of our minds wander for different reasons. My work day is so busy and noisy that when I'm home I want a little quiet - or at least music of MY choice. And I don't answer the phone at home either (unless it's my Mother-In-Law).
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, fabric was rolled up. It was not folded in half and wrapped around a flat cardboard thing. When did that change?
ReplyDeletehmmm is right. 12 comments already, and not one to answer your questions!
ReplyDeleteI'm not an expert.. but I'm pretty sure they quit using the 36" measurement during the 60's.. but you could still get it that narrow then. I have no idea why they decided on 44"-45". Probably so our fat quarters would be 22"x18" hee-hee-hee!
