Vintage Thursday.......

Vintage Thursday is a fun group hosted by Confessions of an Apron Queen..........

I just love this day! Look what I have to show this week…
My mother-in-law passed about 4 years ago at the age of 85 and this was her porcelain doll. Whenever we would go visit, my three girls would ask to they could see Grammy’s Doll, of course she would let them. I was the mean one who said they could not play with it, what if something happened!! Just before she passed she gave the doll to my youngest daughter (7 at the time) and told her it was hers and she should play with it! She would take her out and just look carefully at her and then put her right back where Grammy always kept her. She knew how special she was too!

Outfit she came with....

These little Bride and Groom were in the box also. I wonder if they were from her Wedding Cake, knowing how well my mother-in-law took care of things, I would like to think they were. We love and miss you Grammy, PS you too Grampy!!

  1. Oh my, what an adorable doll. How special for your daughter. I love the bride and groom. They are really cute and I have never seen any like them. I know how you feel about wanting to know where things came from, and not getting the chance to ask. Very neat VTT post.

  4. Aw I love all 3. Isn't vintage the best. It is so good to teach kids the importance of it too. And let them appreciate things with care. I have a tshirt that says "vintage girl" on it and my kids hate when I go out wearing it. They say "mom, its like hanging a sign around your neck saying I"M OLD". Oh well.

  8. That is a beautiful doll. What a special woman she was to tell your daughter to play with it and what a special child your daughter is to realize at her age the preciousness of the gift.

  12. That doll is wonderful and in such great condition! I love the bride and groom! When my neighbor man passed I got most of his things and a bride and groom set was among the goodies! When his son got married I mailed the set to him and they actually used it on their cake! I am so glad I was able to do that for them! They were both so appreciative!
