A Flimsy!

Oh My Goodness,
I am just tickled pink with this flimsy!  What fun I had with this wall-hanging.  I loved every second. Loved picking out what block to make. Loved picking out what colors to use in the block. Loved picking out the barn colors. Loved picking out the sashing fabrics.
I loved it all!!

Now, I have not trimmed it yet because I do not know if I should add a border? and what color binding?
Advice please!

Happy Sewing!

  1. To frame it and tame it a little - a skinny white border like you sashed the barns - then any of your fabrics or even a scrap pieced border. And I love the black dot or geo print back roof to carry over into the binding. It is just a lovely, fun quilt.

  3. You have made such a happy and lovely quilt top. I think also that a narrow white border followed by a scrappy pieced border will make the quilt even more lovely.
    Thanks for sharing

  4. I love your Quilty barn, the colors and prints are sew cute! If you choose a dark color for the border, the pretty colors will pop!

  5. I would go with a white border and a scrappy binding pulling in all of the other fabrics.

  6. I love your flimsy, too! It is so darling. I agree with Vroomans' comment about the narrow white border and maybe a scrappy second border. I need to make one of these when I get the chance.

  12. Love your quilt top; the barns turned out so well. Don't you just love that Lori shared her blocks with us? The border question is a good one. I've been back and forth for a couple of hours trying to decide. I'm sure whatever you decide, it'll be great. I think I'd add a white border and then a second one in black with black binding. Seems like the white would set off all those fabulously bright colors in the top and the black would make me think of a frame. That'll be 25 cents...2 cents is just too cheap nowadays!!! lol

  13. Very cute blocks Jane! I say yes to a sashing (skinny white?) and a solid color border that matches something in the blocks...love the idea of a scrappy binding.

    Good luck!

  15. It looks fabulous and my idea was the same as above....white to tie the blocks together and a solid-ish, wider, darker border with a scrappy binding.

  18. You're probably finished with this quilt top by now, but I'd not add another white border. I'd just leave that alone to highlight each barn block. I'd just mimic the scrappy borders around each block and then bind with one of the barn roof fabric. I so love how this barn quilt looks, so I'm sure whatever you decide will look great.
