This quilt has been a long time coming. It will be for my sister. She is a lover of the movie
"Wizard of Oz"
These have sat on my shelf for a very long time as I just did not know what I wanted to do with them. Well, I took all the fabrics to my friend Elaine and just said "help". With her help I now have a plan. BUT..
Let me warn you.
You will not see this until Christmas 2012!
Here is a peek at some of the fabrics.
I was so scared of Elmira Gulch!!!
Some fabric choices.
A panel for a pillow.
I am going to make it a double sided quilt.
One side sepia.
The other color.
I may give sneak peaks in the future.
I could sure use some luck with this one!!
Now I just need to start!
I wish they still showed that movie on TV. I always look forward to it each year just like It's a Wonderful Life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt that will be Jane! I love the sepia/color idea to make it reversible! How clever!

Just this past weekend my 5 year old little girl watched The Wizard of Oz for the very first time, and the second, third, fourth and fifth time, too. She loves it. I can't wait to see your quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy son has played the tinman twice and the lion once in the play! I love the Wizard of Oz and enjoyed his performance immensely! I'm sure your sister will be thrilled!
ReplyDeleteI love it when quilts have special meaning to the recipient. Your sister is going to LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteOk, Janie, GOOD LUCK! Those are great panels, but nothing comes to mind for me, so it will be fun to see what your plan is...eventually! Something "twisted"?
ReplyDeleteOh fun!!!!! I loved the movie too.
ReplyDeleteGreat movie! I've been seeing a lot of Wizard of Oz fabrics popping up around blogland =D
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful movie! Your fabric in sepia tone is perfect! Have fun planning and making this unique quilt :)
ReplyDeleteFun! At our local movie house, they show old films up on the big screen--this week it is The Wizard of Oz. My sister and I loved this movie too; my artist mom painted a yellow brick road and emerald castle on our bedroom wall and we had poppy sheets that we used as bedspreads. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteJane your sister is going to love this! I know it will be a labor of love - and so worth it. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteI made my daughter a quilt using this fabric and struggled!! I am not a panel kind of quilter. But, turned out great. good luck
ReplyDeleteI too am a Wizard of Oz fan and bought yards and yards of the fabrics. I had the same idea of making the quilt sepia on one side and then colorful on the other side - just like the movie (Kansas is sepia and when she gets to Oz it's colorful). Looking forward to your quilt. I have downloaded every Oz quilt I have seen online, but still haven't seen one I just want to make.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this fabric. where do you find Wizzard of Oz fabric? I am in a womens organization. Our current president is a BIG Wizzard of Oz fan. Can anyone tell me where I can find this fabric?
