It is My Turn to be Wicked

It is my day!!
How much fun is this hop?
I love everything I am seeing and feel so Wickedly inspired.
Thank you to Madame Samm and our Wickedly Fun Cheerleader Wendy from Why Not Kwilt.
I get to share my Wickedness today with these other wonderful ladies.

Tuesday, October 30th

Today I am going to talk about my favorite block.
It is the..

Good Old Nine Patch

So many blocks are based on the nine patch.
I am just going to show you a few.
This is a nine patch. Nine equal blocks sew into three columns of three.
(See my tutorial on my right side bar)

You can take this block and turn it into a
Disappearing Nine Patch.
(just google and you will find many tutorials on how to make this block)

From this children's book, I traced a bat and then appliqued it to a nine patch. The possibilities would be endless.

How about a fussy cut middle?

Here is another of my favorite blocks based on the Nine Patch.
The Wonky Star
(See my tutorial on my right side bar)

These are all fairly simple blocks. Now I wanted to apply the principle to a harder block.
Can you see the three columns?
This is from
The Quilters Cache
Another Nine Patch Star

I thought it would be fun to add some Ric Rac.

Hmm, I am starting to like this one!
I think I will add some quilting lines.

Ready to quilt.

I thought it would be fun to do big stitch quilting.
I used Black Prescencia Finca Size 8.

All done.....

And now on my kitchen table.

Giveaway?
Did someone mention a giveaway?
Oh yes.
ME

How about a $20 Gift Certificate to...  QUILT TAFFY

Just leave me a comment and I will pick a winner sometime on Halloween.

Happy Hopping!!

And if you missed a day or want to see all the blocks and projects; the links can be fond on my left side bar.

A New Project!

I started a new project this weekend. My SIL asked for a Chicago Bears Quilt for my Grandson. Of course!!
Good Golly, I have to figure out this photo editing! Chicago Bears colors include orange! Really this is Kona Orange but I cannot make it look that way!  Anyhoo,  these are the fabrics I am using..

Cut into 5 inch squares.

A possible layout.

What I am working on...

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Despite all our rain which we needed, it was very nice
Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions for a new photo host program.  I have been experimenting, your eyes will tell me!

So, what have I been up to?

Of course
The Wizard of Oz Quilt.  Here is a sneak peek.

I am also working on a super fun Halloween Project.  Now this is not for the
WICKED BLOG HOP  starting soon. This is for ,well, when I get it done!!

This is an Amy Bradley Design.
How cute is this?!
She has so many darling patterns, which can be found

This is such a fun pattern and much easier than it looks!
I do not applique and I am able to make this beauty.

NOW,  I am not found of purple nor batiks, but look what I picked for the background squares! Amy picked just the right color. I could not change her choice. It was perfect!

I fused, traced and cut the pieces for each character.   I started with Frankie!

Here He is on an Applique Pressing Sheet. If you do not have one, this is an item you need!

The next step was to fuse him to the background and add the embellishments.

Hmm, I thought that it would be hard to hand quilt around all the pieces so I devised a plan of my own.

You know..

I decided, (with help from a friend, thanks Elaine), to make and quilt the top first.  Then I would add my characters and embellish.
Here is where I am now...

My plan for Halloween 2013 include this!

Witches in Stitches Bootique
From
Oh my Blooming Threads
found HERE

How crazy cute is this!

Of course any free time is giving to my
Katie Quilt!

I think this will keep me busy for a while.

Here is a sneak peek of what I am working on for the

WHEW!!

Now I want all of you to have a fun and creative week!
Happy Sewing!
