When I have an idea for a project, I can see the picture in my head and know just what I want to do...
But Why? Why I ask you
does my project
NEVER
look like the picture?
As Pooh Bear would say "Oh, bother"
My picture, A Valentine Table-Runner. Long and skinny.
My project, a table topper fat and square!!
BUT, I still love it.
I started out with 2 1/2 inch strips that I sewed in a random order.
Hoping to make it long and skinny.
Should have measured the strips first! Live and learn.
So the plan changed to a table topper.

Thanks to a blogging friend, I knew I wanted to try stamping fabric. Conversation Hearts have stamped words on them and sometimes the stamping is off center or not stamped all the way. Oh, this was perfect for me! I got out my stamps, heart templates and got busy. I did iron Pellon on to the fabric before I cut the hearts so I could fuse them on to the topper.
Well I decided to try my hand at machine quilting. By the time I was done (mind you this is about 24 X 24 inches) I wanted to throw my machine out the window. No more for me, I hand quilt.
Bless all of you who can machine quilt. I am in awe!

Yet, I try, and this is what I came up with.

I also wanted to show you a close up of my favorite vase. This was my mother's as is the plate in the final picture. I believe this is called Milk Glass. These are so very special to me.

Jane, When I was a kid conversation hearts were my favorite Valentines Day candy. They came in a box with a celophane heart on the front of the box. This project brings back so many fond memories of those days. Thanks for hosting this event and this great give away!

jane you are so humble -- I think your machine quilting looks pretty good for someone that is a hand quilter. (which I envy you for because I can not hand quilt -- or aplique). The project looks great and I love that stamping technique mostly because I have all thoes items on hand and never thought to use them in quilting so I may have a new technique for lables. I really think it turned out fabulous. You do realize we are our worse critics. I really like the colors and the hearts tamped was a fabulous idea. I never get good ideas like that. And as I am still very new to all this quilting . Let me be the first to tell you my machine quilting totally sucks bigtime...I have been tempted to start handquilting. :) fat and square is perfect for a square table! Did you try using a walking foot??? I tried it last week end and it is amazing.... 1hour quilt a quilt i more important.. wasn't angry after that... even quilt my other WIP waiting for so long... with free motion quilting!!! try it
