In Your Words Day 5~~ My Turn

Other wonderful blogs I get to share the day with...

Friday, January 11
Jane's Fabrics (Jane R.)
Jane's Quilting (Jane C.)
Nuts 4 Redwork (Heide W.)
Bits and Pieces (Martha R.)
Life in Every Breath (Jennifer B.)
Quilting Lines (Patricia L.)
Meadowbrook  (Kristen K.)
Count It All Joy!  (Denise P.)
Sophie Junction (Sophie W.)

When this blog hop was first announced I could not wait to jump onto the band wagon. Thank you to Madame Samm and our cheerleader Linda for all your hard work.
The first thing I did was to download the blank display button provided by Madame Samm.
Next, WORDS, words that were important to me. Words that described me.  Words that I taught my children. The words came easily, there are many words but only a few that are special to me.
I jotted them down on the blank canvas...

OK, Done!!
Wow, that was fun.
What, I need to make something with these words.
Oh my, I am not a creative person, no, not at all.
So....

My special words were traced on to white Kona.

I choose some of my prettiest Prescencia Threads and started to stitch.

Hey, this is fun!
I even added some glitter thread to my word glitter!

I added some bling with my I-Rock Tool.

I was going to use my table-topper stand but, been there, done that, so I thought...
How about a small pillow?
That might be cute.

Well, I did the best I could and well let's say...

Ugg...

I am laughing as I look at this lumpy little pillow!

I sat and thought, feeling a little let down with my lumpy baby pillow.

(source google image)

When, all of a sudden it came to me. This was not about the project for me, this was about ME. What was important to me, what I liked, how I liked to treat others. And after sitting and thinking I decided I liked my silly, little  lumpy pillow.

Words, it was all about the words.

Sparkles! Now that's the way to make a pillow!!! :) Honestly, I LOVE Lumpy Pillows...much more fun to snuggle with a lumpy pillow than a stiff stuffy pillow hard as concrete. I choose Lumpy Everytime!!! I really like the sparkle you added, perfect touch!

Focusing on the positive, your stitching is perfect! I wish I could stitch like you, but I'm still taking baby steps with embroidering. The lumps aren't even an issue...it is about the words and you chose some great ones. I want to add bling! I need to get me one of those I-Rock tools.

Annie said...

hahaha...what a fun post, Jane. Will there a book soon, "Charlie Brown and the Lumpy Pillow"? Your embroidery is, as always, beautiful! As you pass by this special little pillow you'll probably begin seeing ways to gunk, I mean, dress it up. Like pinning a 3-D flower to it, maybe adding a little heart applique, stitching on some sequins for more bling......

Duh- it has children on it. We all know that children never plump up a pillow when they are done.
As soon as I read your pillow, I had to go to the fridge and get a chocolate bar-see, I can follow directions. Now I am going to get lumpy!
Seriously-love your words, and great job on the stitching.

This made me smile. I made a very lumpy pillow one year and everyone always made fun of it. When the kids got older and left home I wrapped it and gave it to one of them for Christmas as a joke. Ever since then the lumpy pillow has been given to someone in the family for Christmas. Two years ago I gave it a new cover and some new stuffing but kept old lumpy inside. My youngest son's girlfriend liked it so much she kept it. So, lumpy pillows can bring a lot of people a lot of joy!
