Jane's Fabrics and Quilts: May 2012

Sorry, it took me awhile to get this posted. I must have been so excited about the Berenstain Bears that these other fabulous fabrics slipped my mind!!

I have started to collect "text" prints so here are a few I purchased.

Some, red, white, and blues for well, you know, The Blog Hop!

I also picked up some fabrics for my bees. Purple and yellow are not colors that I seem to have in my stash.

I mean really!!! I probably already have it but gee what's a girl to do?

Lastly I picked this one up for a future project.

I loved the bright colors on the crisp white background.

My Heavens, I LOVE fabric, like we all do!!

Sorry Part Two Delay BUT....

Sorry Shop Hop Part Two is delayed

I did make a block for the

3X6 Bee

For this round I am in a paper piecing hive. My colors are red/white/blue. So I made a test block with my colors.

I think I like it!

Yippee, it is Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino weather!!!

YUMMY!!

My friend Elaine and I went on a quilt store shop hop. For those of you who do nit know what that is, you go to several quilt stores in a day (or two) and shop! You have a passport and the store will stamp the passport.

At the end you turn it in and you may win a prize.

Nope, I did not win a prize

BUT

Look at my new treasures!

When we were looking around one store, I peeked on a lower shelf and then let out a squeal(really a big squeal)!

Berenstain Bear Fabric

ARE YOU KIDDING??!!

Why oh Why did I not know about this?

I immediately grabbed the bolts and held on tight!

Not only did I buy the fabric I bought all that was on the bolts!!

First bolt I finished...

Next bolt I finished...

Third bolt I finished...

I was so in love with this fabric that I went on-line to find more!

I see some fussy cutting in my future!

The Berenstain Bear books are very dear to my heart. I have read them literally hundreds of times to all three of my girls.

I now get to start over with my grandbabies.

This cross stitched picture has hung in all my girls rooms at one time. I made this when my middle daughter was one and yes when I could see!!

It is now hanging in my office.

Yep 1985! Gee Whiz I am old!!

This quilt will be my summer project.

I cannot wait to pull out all my books and stuffed family.

Yes, I own the whole family!!

While we were shopping one of the shoppers mentioned that Jan Berenstain has passed away not to long ago; very sad news.

But their books will always be a very important part of our lives.

Hmm, off to eBay to see what Bear goodies I can find.

A Few Things...

Just a few things on this Sunday evening....

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Full of family, fun and love.

I had a lovely day! I thought I would show you what Maggie made for me.

It is now hanging in my sewing room.

What I have been working on....

Wonky Stars for my Wonky Swap.

I love to make these stars and (giggle) I am using my own tutorial!

I am also working on my niece's quilt. I want to have it down by June 10th for her celebration.

I have such GREAT RESPECT for machine quilters. I just cannot "make it work"!! I was going nuts just putting on the border for her quilt. All that fabric on my lap, on the floor, slung over my shoulder! YIKES!! You machine quilters are amazing!!

I also am trying to learn EQ6! Well, I am happy to say so far so good. What, yes I am still on lesson one!

So, off to softball this week! Our team is conference champs and we are so hoping to go to state. Please wish us luck!
