I have a guest today!!
Welcome
Quilted Sisca
First of all I would like to thank Jane for hosting me for the Red White & Blue Blog Hop : ) As you already know, I am a newbie in sewing and quilting, but I just could not contain myself when I heard about this Blog Hop. I wanted to be part of it!!!! Well, like you said in your post earlier last week, "July 4th was Fun, Family and Food." For me it was Fun, Fast and Furious, referring to making these blocks of course : ) Food and family are included too ,especially when we harvested a 33 pound watermelon on the 4th. That was exciting! Yes, yes, yes, the color was red, red, red and yummy – except for the fact that I ate too much watermelon and drank too much juice : )
I started my blocks with sketches, lots of them. What can you expect from a newbie? I decided that I would make a traditional block and of course I choose the easy one :)
… the Churn Dash.
Another Churn Dash.
Then I did the Friendship Star.
I thought I should make a wonky star from your tutorial, but I realized it was too small for 12 and half inches... so I added a log cabin to it. Not bad huh : )?
Another Wonky Star.
Oh my, my, my, head started spinning, I guess to many Red White and Blue blocks : ) and … here are some of the blocks which came out without a plan or a sketch.
my favorite is the block of my unfinished table runner …
no I change my mind … the block with the white background and lots of strips … they remind me a lot of the American flag and the tiny postage stamps.
I will work on the table runner tomorrow since I am just too exhausted from taking pictures. I am in need of a big cup of coffee and some sweets : )
Do you like my fabric coaster and my patriotic mug : ) ?
By the way, I hope I didn’t steal anybody's “block pattern” but I am sure I have seen some of them somewhere and it somehow ended up like what you see here : ) Do you think I am going nuts?
Well , I ran out of fabrics to make 12 and half inch blocks now. So I thought I would make little tiny pincushions . I only wanted to make one or two but I ended up making a dozen of them.
What am I going to do with them? Some ladies at my Quilt Quild might get them as their door prize : ) Would that qualify me to be a Pincushions Keeper?
Oh, I realized I still had some fabric left, so I ended up making some more fabric coasters . I thought this was neat, but my hubby said I was totally going nuts. I hope you will find them acceptable ,and of course I understand that I totally crossed the line with the tiny tiny blocks – if I put them together they might get to measure up to a 12 and half inch block.
I better go now … thank you once again for hosting me and for everything : ) I had lots of fun making these blocks and this Blog Hop really inspired me a lot.

The Churn Dash is a charmer and wonderful for a R/W/B block; as well as the Friendship Star. Love how you expanded(or is it minimalize?) all your blocks and fabrics - how delightful! Thank you for sharing with us today.
Churn dash is one of my favorite blocks- sometimes called the hole in the barn door. They have some funny names don't they. I do love reading about quilts and their names. It looks like you had a grand time making your pin cushions.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
