Hot and Wantobe News.....

HOT HOT HOT…
Oh yes it is hot here. Some of the world is experiencing very hot, oppressive heat.
I am!! How about you?
It tends to make you feel a little sluggish and not like doing too much.
So…. I have been working on some embroidery projects. I finished the two Birdie Bee Blocks.

JUNE

JULY

Then I decided to try my hand at a pillowcase. I have never made one but had just the right amount of the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar fabric. Little T loves this book and he is now in a “big boy” bed. I thought he would like this. So, I hopped over to the Sew We Quilt@ Stash Manicure Tutorial Page Why I’ll be dipped in chocolate, it worked!! I even made it a two sided pillowcase, with French seams! Never made a French seam in my life!! I am tickled pink with how it turned out. I am now off to thank the guest who posted this tutorial!

Super Zig Finished!

Done!! Finished!! Wash, dried, and on my daughter’s bed.
Not sure if your remember this quilt I was making…

It was from Happy Zombie. The pattern is called Sipper Zig and can be found here.

I have wanted to try my hand at big stitch quilting for some time now and this quilt was perfect to take for a test drive.

Here we go….

ZOOM…………………………………….

Why yes, I did use dot fabric from my store!

Oh, it would look wonderful in Kona Solids too!

Oh thank you for asking again, yes I did use
Presencia Threads~~Finca from my store!

I thought it would be fun to use a scrappy binding.

Maggie picked the back, as she claimed the quilt!!

Now on her bed being put to good use!

I HIGHLY recommend making this quilt!! It was fast, easy and sooo much fun!!~
It is going to be unbelievable hot this week, so be safe if you will also be in the heat.

Civil War Blocks.....

Oh, you wanted to see more finished Civil War Blocks?

Sorry to disappoint, but I do not have any to show!
My friend Elaine and I meet once every week or so and cut out the blocks. No, wait, reverse that, SHE cuts out the blocks, I iron the fabric (tough job but someone has to do it)!
Elaine has made, all by hand, pieced and quilted the Dear Jane Quilt. It is stunning. But as she was working on the quit she came up with a great plan to keep all the blocks organized.

I am sooo into organization, now stop that, really I am!

So, we pick a block, pick the fabrics we like, Elaine cuts, I watch!

Then we put the numbered block with the layout directions together

They go into a sheet protector

And into a 3 ring binder.

Yep, I knew I had been saving this Little Mermaid Binder for YEARS for a reason~!
All in one place safe and secure! This is going to be my take along project. You know, waiting in the car, watching sporting events, sitting on the beach (yeah, like I would quilt if I was at a beach)! I am doing mine by blocks by hand. I feel I can match the pieces better if I take my time and do not zip them through the sewing machine.

So, for right now, we are just cutting, sorting and talking as we “work”

Have a happy weekend!

I Spy...

This post is for me, I know selfish!! You can stop here if you would like, really no hard feelings at all!!
I first made an I Spy quilt for Maggie when she was little; being a girl of course it has a ton of girly prints. I did it all by hand;

Our first grandchild is a boy, so this will I Spy quilt will never do and really Maggie is 15 and there are so many new characters around, SpongeBob, Go Diego Go, Thomas the Tank, New Movies, such as Cars, Finding Nemo, Toy Story, also boy items such as Cars, Bulldozers, Dino’s, sports, animals and do not be too fooled, if we have a girl there is also princesses, paper dolls, Minnie Mouse and of course Snoopy and Charlie Brown for Grandma. Oh yes, plenty of candy!!

Now I was Smarter with this quilt. It is all done by machine. It was cut with my Accucut Studio. It was pieced by machine and then tied! You may not remember that I could not understand why it looked like this…

But to be honest if I tried to make it look like it does now, I would not have been able.

And I like it!!

Thanks to everyone who sent me novelty prints for this quilt

We love it!!!

Not Too Much.....

That is what I got done this weekend, not too much. Plenty of softball but Mommy had to leave before the paramedics arrived for heat stroke. You spend so much time caring and worrying for your child you neglect yourself. With temperatures in the 90’s and not one smidge of shade, I had to miss a few games.

Boy, it is touch getting old!

I did manage to make one block for my Bee Wonky Bee. Our member asked for wonky houses and I thought it would be fun to make a Halloween House. I sure hope she likes it!

Stay cool or stay warm, whatever your case may be!!

My Quilt Shop....

My Quilt Shop Stitchery is completed.

I had so much fun stitching my little shop. Come on, who does not love a tree with pink blossoms??!!
What? What did you say?
Yes, of course I used my Presencia Finca Threads!!!

Now I need to decide if I want to make a pillow, frame it, or a wall hanging? I am leaning towards a wall hanging!

I have some Flower Sugar Fabric from Lecien that I was lucky to find listed in my store.

Enjoy your day!!

Being a Grandmother is sooo much fun!
